A New Semester at Kyambogo University.

In February of this year our volunteers returned to the University of Kyambogo in Kampala, Uganda, to lead a series of practical workshop sessions focussed on Medical Gases and Anaesthetic Machines and Electrical Safety Testing. Mr Terry Timmons from Manchester University Hospitals spent two weeks covering Anaesthetic machines and associated equipment, such as ventilators and evaporators, and retired engineer from Wolverhampton Hospital Mr Jaswant Bilkhu spent a week covering electrical safety testing and associated equipment.

As we ease back into a two semester program at Kyambogo, in Spring and Autumn, we are also preparing to send volunteers to Evelyn Hone College in Zambia again after a two year break. This will most likely take place around October/November so keep an eye on your emails, potential volunteers, as we will be sending out calls for specialists over the summer depending on what items of equipment are chosen. This will most likely be another series of sessions aimed at helping in-service Biomedical Engineers from across Zambia.

Meanwhile, Martin hopes to meet with as many BMEs as possible at this years EBME expo in Coventry this coming June. He'll be on our stand, hosted as in previous years by Hilditch Group. We hope to see you there!
